About the Grade Calculator

Class grades are rarely a plain average — homework might count 20%, quizzes 30% and exams the rest. This grade calculator handles the weighting for you: enter each assessment's score and its weight, and it returns your current overall grade instantly. Weights can be percentages or points; as long as they reflect your syllabus, the result matches what your teacher's gradebook will show.

The final-grade mode answers the question every student asks in exam week: what do I need on the final? Enter your current grade, the target grade you want, and how much the final exam is worth, and the calculator tells you the exact score required. Sometimes the news is reassuring — a 61% will do — and sometimes it's a wake-up call. Either way, you'll know precisely how to plan your study time.

Frequently asked questions

How does the weighted grade formula work?

Multiply each score by its weight, add the results, then divide by the sum of the weights: grade = Σ(score × weight) ÷ Σ(weights). With weights of 20%, 30% and 50%, scores of 80, 90 and 70 give 0.2×80 + 0.3×90 + 0.5×70 = 78%. The calculator does this arithmetic for you instantly.

How do you calculate what I need on the final?

The formula is: required score = (target − current × (1 − final weight)) ÷ final weight. If you're sitting at 82%, want 85%, and the final counts 40%, you need (85 − 82×0.6) ÷ 0.4 = 89.5%. Enter your three numbers and the calculator solves it in one step.

What if my weights don't add up to 100%?

That's fine. The calculator divides by the total weight you've entered, so partial weights mid-semester still produce a correct current grade. If your class uses points instead of percentages, enter each item's score with its point value as the weight — the math works out identically.

Can it tell me if my target grade is still possible?

Yes. If the required final-exam score comes out above 100%, the target is mathematically out of reach with the remaining weight — time to adjust the goal or ask about extra credit. If the required score is very low, you have breathing room and can plan your revision accordingly.

Is this grade calculator free?

Yes, entirely free with no sign-up. Your scores are processed instantly in your browser and never uploaded anywhere, so you can check your standing — or the final-exam score you need — as many times a semester as stress demands, on any phone, tablet or laptop.
